New DIY Knowledge-Sharing Tool for Researchers

Valuable Knowledge Sharing tool released for researchers. Make sure your work reaches where it needs to.

November 19, 2019. We want to draw your attention to a relevant faculty resource released this week by the JHU Office of the Vice Provost for Research. Dr. Keri Althoff, Johns Hopkins Provost’s Fellow for Research Communication, says:

“JHU Faculty: Do you need assistance disseminating your research findings to your stakeholders? The Do-It-Yourself Dissemination (DIYD) Tool Kit was developed for you by a faculty researcher with the input of communications teams across JHU. In just a few steps, you can disseminate your findings to your stakeholders. A guide to the DIYD tool kit and templates for the steps are provided at the website (available here). Use the DIYD tool kit to draw the attention of your stakeholders and the community impacted by your findings, and efficiently fulfill the responsibility of disseminating your research findings.”

Highlights about the toolkit:

  • Helps you reach stakeholders blocked by paywalls, in language understood by those outside of the expertise areas; including people directly impacted, advocacy groups, programs and policy decision-makers, funders, elected officials and media

  • Offers templates and examples

  • Send further comments or questions to toolkit developer, Dr. Keri Althoff kalthoff@jhu.edu

The Center for Health Equity Communications still intends to actively disseminate news and stories about your work. However, we believe this tool can expand your reach by coordinating our collective efforts. Looking ahead, after the Center’s new online dissemination platform is up and running in late 2019 (e.g. enhanced website, action-focused hub site, and updated news publication), I’ll be checking in with CHE’s core researchers more regularly so we can plan ahead and coordinate how to effectively share your upcoming work.
